Perinatal Fitness
AFAA's Perinatal Fitness is a one-day workshop which focuses on AFAA's
Standards and Guidelines for Prenatal Exercise. AFAA's Perinatal Fitness
Curriculum covers fetal growth and development, labor and delivery,
obstetrical complications, physiology of pregnancy, hormonal changes,
cardiorespiratory changes, metabolic and endocrine factors, nutritional
needs, risk factors, relative and absolute contraindications, warning
signs and symptoms.
Perinatal Fitness offer 5 CEUs for AFAA certified professionals.

WHAT IS AFAA'S PERINATAL FITNESS WORKSHOP?
This one-day Perinatal Fitness workshop premiers AFAA's Standards
& Guidelines for Prenatal Exercise. The Perinatal Fitness course will
discuss the theoretical and practical applications necessary to create
safe and effective exercise programs for the pregnant student before,
during and after pregnancy. During the Perinatal Fitness workshop
you will be introduced to the following topics:
Physiology of pregnancy
Fetal growth and development
Labor and delivery
Nutritional needs
Exercise considerations for Perinatal Fitness
Risk factors, warning signs and symptoms
Relative and absolute contraindications

AFAA's Perinatal Fitness workshop is for instructors as well as pregnant women in need of a safe and effective
exercise program.

AFAA Primary Group Exercise Certification or
Exercise Science Fundamentals Home study
WHAT DOES AFAA'S PERINATAL FITNESS WORKSHOP COST?
The Perinatal Fitness workshop fee is $129 (less 10% discount for current AFAA members).
This fee includes:
One-day Perintal Fitness workshop
AFAA's Standards and Guidelines for Prenatal Exercise
One-year AFAA membership ($68 value) or membership extension to current
members
Subscription to American Fitness magazine (does not include postage to
addresses outside of the U.S.)
5 CEUs for AFAA certified instructors (also approved for Registered Nurse
CE credit)
